Camel Estuary Youth Sailing (CEYS)
Join our Team!
We are seeking to replace our current Chair Roger Williams who is stepping down after more than ten years’ involvement with the charity. Camel Estuary Youth Sailing was established in 2006 by Rock residents who noticed the lack of local children sailing on the estuary relative to the number of holiday sailors. Its aim is to address this imbalance by reaching these children, raising funds to pay for their professional tuition to an accredited RYA standard, and easing adoption of the sport for those who wish to continue.
CEYS is financially sound and well-regarded by the Rock community, working with local schools, Camel Sailing School, and Rock Sailing & Water Ski Club. In 2022 forty children commenced or continued fully funded sail-training under our auspices.
At its most simple the role of Chair is to head-up and co-ordinate these activities, to liaise with interested parties and to spearhead fund-raising initiatives within the community. Beyond that there are broader opportunities to rethink strategy and to drive post-CEYS junior sailing with new committee-level Charity representation within the sailing club.
No direct contact with children is currently required, nor necessarily sailing knowledge! You will have the keen assistance of both our President and fellow trustees (presently three but could be more).
