Camel Week Tracker protocol

TRACACE™ and Results Protocol – Camel Week 2018

Tracker Number Allocation

Tracker numbers will be issued to competitors at Registration on Friday or for late entries Saturday morning prior to 1000.

Notes fao Tracker Manager

After each day’s racing, tracker bags need to be left open (to air them out) on the tracker boards and all trackers need to be turned off (unless they are being charged). Trackers will need to be stored in a secure location overnight (this may mean they are removed from their bags on the tracker board and stored in their box in locked room).

The following morning, each tracker needs to be turned on prior to collection by sailors and sealed into its corresponding bag – you could have the sailors themselves do this to save time, but they will need to be reminded to do this!

On Sunday and Tuesday, the trackers will need to be charged overnight. They can be left on during this process but still need to be stored securely during charging. They will not need to be turned on again the following morning, just place them in the bags ready to go.

Problems or technical issues

SSW will run a remote status check each day before tracker collection opens and send the Race Officer the ‘all clear’ to open collection once all trackers are online (via a text message). We will also be monitoring the trackers during the racing each day.

If a tracker fails, or is not sending a reliable signal, SSW will contact the Race Officer by phone and inform them of this before collection opens – we will have a few spare trackers available so the team can simply swap out a tracker that is not functioning properly.

If a tracker needs to be charged before it is due, SSW will contact the Race Officer and inform them of this. If charging isn’t possible at that time (e.g. morning before the race), the tracker can again be switched out.

Daily Race Results – fao Race Officers

The Shrimper Race Officer after each days racing is to forward a soft copy of the results to Richard West (rwestie@gmail.com ) for the Club website and the Dinghy Multihull Race Officer (Camel.Week@rswsc.co.uk) for forwarding to SSW together with the same information for the dinghy and multihull fleets.
