Over the past couple of weeks there have been several organised training sessions for the Clubs patrol boat drivers. Guy Gilks prepared a weekend of training tasks and manovering skills for all drivers which involved turning within a boat length in a box; man overboard drills and coming alongside the pontoon within a set area. Many other skills were also assessed which haven't been mentioned!

Today saw a swimming test, which of course pleased the drivers having just come in from a morning race, in the rain! Drivers and crew had to prove their swimming ability and also show that they were able to get back into the boats unassisted.

Head Patrol Boat Driver, James Collins turned up in a brightly coloured yellow rash vest with Beach Rescue written on, Picture available by clicking the link above this article. James was given a Inflatable Life Jacket and instructed by Dave Parr to jump in, then inflate. Again the pictures of this are attached.
